Why I like the baby montior - reason #152

This morning we heard my 2 yr old son say:
"one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, BOOM!"

Now, is that cool or what?

brain freeze

A friend said this a long time ago. I had that experience this morning. UGH!

The problem is that I coded before I thought, that's all. Now that is the bane of all programmers.

The geek is back on line!

Well, after my computer died this spring, I had stopped updating my stitching page, since I didn't have my geeky program up. Well, I've made a start towards getting that going again. I installed my eclipse workbench, and found my old workspace. I gathered up the pictures I want to add to the page. Tonight I'll work on loading them up into the tool, and hopefully I will have things to share this week!

Needlebook with silk and linen thread

Updating with the latest on the needlebook. I've almost finished the front cover. The green border at the top needs to be done on the remaining three sides, and there's some knots around the edge. Then I'll work on the back cover.

I haven't updated my web pages much since I got my computer back on line. I don't have my web page tool running on the new computer yet. I'll have to get that going again.

Nice Shoes

I don't share many family stories, but this one was too cute.
I was wearing a new pair of shoe today, and my son (almost 2) had noticed them when I got him up this morning. As I was leaving for work he was having breakfast with my husband, and he pointed out my new shoes to Dad. Dad offered some fatherly advice: "You can impress a girl by complimenting her shoes." So he said to me: "Nice shoes". I thanked him and gave him a smooch. My son then looks at me and says "Nice shoes." It was so cute. (He got a smooch too). We're raising quite the ladies man!

Needlebook

This will be the front of a small needlebook. This needlebook will be a guild project next year.

The flower basket is stitched in silk thread. The pulled work is done with linen thread. The basket is done with pulled stitches. The flowers are done with one strand of silk thread over one linen thread.

The finished book will be about 3" square.

More punch needle!

I took a break from my needlebook, and did this small punch needle piece tonight. It was fun, and quick. It's nice to get something done quickly. Very inspirational! The pattern came in a small orange box, I'll cut the daisy out and glue it to the top. It's going to be so cute.

Robin's Nest - Update

I saw the eggs hatch, and just before Memorial Day we had 3 little babies in the nest. I put some flowers out front on last Monday, and the little ones were doing all right, I thought. Saturday I looked and the nest was empty. I tried looking up how long robins stay in the nest after hatching, and my first thing I found said 2 weeks. Since I haven't seen young robins in the yard, I believe the robins came to a sad end. :(

Yard sightings

This squirrel was cooling off by splaying out on the feeder.

This is the first of our robins to leave the nest getting a snack from its parent (this one is from the nest by the garage).

Here we have the ducks who are nesting nearby.

Robin's Nest

For the last few years, we've had a robin using a nest on the side of the garage. This year I watched a robin building an nest in the bushes in the front of the house. Now she has three beautiful eggs there!

Hmmm...

Ok. So maybe I don't have a white-throated sparrow. It might be a white crowned sparrow. I'll have to keep an eye out for them and get a better look. I am thinking it's white-crowned, even though the map I looked at didn't show them in my area.

Birds of Spring!

So, spring has arrived and we're hearing the evidence (at 4:30 in the morning, no less). I had three White Throated Sparrows in the yard today (thanks to my son for pointing them out). On Saturday my hubby saw a humming bird, so Sunday I put out my new humming bird feeder. I thought I saw one buzz by last night. Tonight I got a great surprise! An oriole stopped by for a drink! How about that! I'll have to go get some oranges for him.

more signs of spring

aside from the drippy nose from the tree pollen I saw my buddy Chippy today. Chippy is the name I give to all the Chipping Sparrows that come to my feeders.

Spring

I worked out in the garden this weekend. I got one flower bed cleaned up. I had big plans in the fall, but wasn't able to get anything done, so it's all a mess now. One down.... so many more to go....

What's new?

Whew! My computer flaked out and we had to reinstall it. What a bummer! Anyway, I haven't gotten my java environment up yet, so I won't be updating my web pages any for a while (see previous post about what a geek I am!)

Here's some stitching updates for the time being:

This little fellow is a punch needle project I bought last fall in La Crosse, WI.
I think he's the cutest thing, and plan to finish him into a squishy pillow.

Here's an update on the anniversary sampler from my aunt's guild.

This is a huck weaving and cross stitch pillow cover kit I got for Christmas.
