stitch, un-stitch, repeat

Ahh, the process of getting it right. So much counting, recounting, and groaning.

I have been working on the Christmas in the Heartland sampler now that I have finished the Herb Garden Sampler.  And there was one row I just couldn't seem to get lined up correctly.  Turns out, two rows above I'd made a few mistakes, and that was what caused me troubles in the next two rows.  I was so frustrated with it, I didn't work on it for a while, but when I finally got it straightened out, ran a basting line down the center, the rest got easier.  I am almost to the bottom of the tree now.  This has been so much fun to do, I might think about doing it again in a while!

Christmas in the Heartland

I went through my stash a bit tonight looking for an old magazine that contained a pattern for an ornament I thought I'd like to make again.  But, I was unable to find it.  I did find a treasure trove of things I forgot I'd had, and an equally large trove of things I wonder why I even bought!  At least I have a good set of things to get started on, and keep me out of trouble!

Christmas in the Heartland update

Here's the latest on the Christmas in the Heartland sampler. I decided not to bring anything along on vacation with me.. just not enough space with all the kids stuff, and all. I probably won't have much time to stitch while away anyway.

Stitching in 2011

Last year I posted my stitching goals for the year, and almost all the items done.  Some bad tendinitis in my stitching arm slowed me down, but that herb farm sampler is almost done!  So, since that seemed to work for me last year, here is my 2011 Stitching goals:

  1. Finish the Harm Farm Sampler (completed)
  2. Guild Program Items:
    1. Easel finishing (March) (completed)
    2. Bargello Christmas Tree (April) (started)
    3. Blackwork Project (October)
  3. Finish Christmas in the Heartland Sampler (completed)
  4. Finish one corner of my large hardanger piece
  5. Pay it forward 2011 - I offered to send something handmade to 5 friends if they offered to send something to 5 friends.  So, I have 5 things to make. (1 of 5 completed)
  6. *BONUS* Lizzie Kate kit - HO HO HO Cross stitch

So, here's where I'm at with the herb garden sampler:
This is almost the full view of the sampler.

This is a close up detail of the last part.

This is a recent picture of the hardanger piece.

Corner I want to complete this yer.
another view... includes the eyelets that still need to be finished
Here's the small bit I have started on Christmas in the Heartland.  There's still more to go, but once I get going I know it will go quickly.  It's a lot of fun.
