I finished the two ornaments this weekend. With that finish I needed to select my next project. I was going to work on the hardanger bookmark with the bluebells but decided to do the Lori Birmingham basket. That is going quickly and I am excited to try the new stitch in it. I realized I didn't include one of the coolest things I did this year, stitching wise.  At the Fall Region Meeting I took a class from Pat Smith to learn Or Nue.  She designed a cute coin purse with a Loon on it (We were in Minnesota, after all).  I just added it to the "2011" page. Since I finished the fun and beautiful bookmark, I have been in a little bit of a funk.  I can't seem to get my enthusiasm up to stitch much.  It might be the summer weather, but I think it was the bookmark.  I need to find something to get me going again.  Maybe I'll start thinking about those huck towels I got up in Fargo. Just got back from a lovely weekend in the great north.  As always, it included a trip to Nordic Needle.  In fact, I am sipping my tea from my new NN mug right now.  I got a bunch of fabric, and supplied to make my sister some huck dish towels for her new and improved kitchen.  And, a nice laying tool so I can uncramp my hands when working on my bargello tree (I am currently using a large needle)

Here are the bands that caused me troubles. Christmas in the Heartland - my problem rows It took a while to get the one marked with the orange arrow right, so I was happy to get that done.  Then, I noticed something was off as I worked on the one marked with the yellow arrow.  So, I found an issue with the orange row again, so I re-did it, but that wasn't quite right.  After lots of counting,

Ahh, the process of getting it right. So much counting, recounting, and groaning. I have been working on the Christmas in the Heartland sampler now that I have finished the Herb Garden Sampler.  And there was one row I just couldn't seem to get lined up correctly.  Turns out, two rows above I'd made a few mistakes, and that was what caused me troubles in the next two rows.  I was so frustrated

Coming down the home stretch here on the Ravenhill Herb Sampler.  The last band  is a big cross stitch (I really don't count the very last one as it won't take more than 45 minutes to complete) Things were going slow there for a bit. I had some crazy tendinitis in my left arm that kept me form stitching for a few weeks there.  Things seem mostly better now.

It's early for so many leaves on the trees here, but I cannot complain. Everyday something new is blossoming, and it's wonderful. Today I was walking past a courtyard here at work and was taken away by the flowers on the trees that just two days ago barely had leaves.

I finally did the finishing on the pin cube this week. It may not look like much, but here's the start of the herb farm sampler. I worked on this most of the weekend at the stitching retreat. I'd had some done before I left, but most of this was accomplished on the weekend. There's still more of the lawn to do. Spring must be here. We've got a bluebird hanging around. He doesn't seem as interested in the bluebird houses, as much as just squabbling at us while we're outside. Cross stitch kit, based on cloistersHardanger updates - made the repairs when I snipped the wrong threads in the first part I cut. Based on some advice from a friend, I have added eyelets around the outside edge. I really don't like eyelets, but will do them anyway.

Finally got the bird feeders up. After a year in the new house, it's nice to watch the birds again. We've got goldfinches, cowbirds, red-winged blackbirds, and grackles. There's a chipping sparrow I've seen once or twice, and another sparrow I've yet to identify. We've got lots of robins, tree swallows and bluebirds as well. We had the first snow of the season this week... and the first real snow at the new house. Winter is here. The cold wind and flurries while I was out at church remind me that it's time for the winter coats. Once again, I think that a warmer climate would be nice for part of the year.

I have completed the candlewicking pillow. It is too bad that I forgot I had used non-colorfast thread before I washed it, and caused the purple to bleed, because it did turn out quite cute. We saw a family of wild turkeys outside our window this morning. There were two adults, a juvenile, and at least 10 babies. Here's one of the adults and the juvenile.

We've seen lots of swallows, crows and blackbirds. Even saw a hawk one day. There are some goldfinches around. Had a hummingbird come up to the window one night a few weeks back. But yesterday I saw a pair of American Kestrels flying around. That's cool.The other night we had a family of turkeys too!We hear pheasants out behind the property, but haven't seen them yet.

We are moving to a new house next week, so are in the process of getting things organized. Today we took down the hooks for the bird feeders off the deck. WOW. Nametag - this was the Jan/Feb guild project. Even though I wasn't able to make it to either meeting, I still got my nametag done! This punchneedle was a clearance item at a stitching store. I bought it because I like doing punchneedle. It will be finished into a pin, and I'll probably donate to be sold at my guild's boutique this fall.

Well, after my computer died this spring, I had stopped updating my stitching page, since I didn't have my geeky program up. Well, I've made a start towards getting that going again. I installed my eclipse workbench, and found my old workspace. I gathered up the pictures I want to add to the page. Tonight I'll work on loading them up into the tool, and hopefully I will have things to share

Updating with the latest on the needlebook. I've almost finished the front cover. The green border at the top needs to be done on the remaining three sides, and there's some knots around the edge. Then I'll work on the back cover.
